Fifty is Nifty!

Good evening, all!

Today is my mom's 50th birthday and it's been such a crazy day! My day started well before everyone else's with a workout. I am trying to get back into running so I decided to run on the treadmill. Five, very sweaty miles later, I left the gym feeling refreshed and ready to start my day!!

*Drool*

I made my mom and lovely birthday breakfast (french toast with fresh berries), then made her non-birthday cake. About two weeks ago, my mom said she did not want a birthday cake, but birthday cookie bars. I found a recipe online for famous monster cookie bars and thought they were perfect! The recipe was very easy and I made them in just a few minutes. If you guys want, I can post up the recipe.

Red Meat!
Me, my mom, and my sister went to Kohl's to buy my mom some birthday presents (a few sets of dishware-exciting I know haha). After leaving the store, we were all getting hungry, so we decided to get sushi from one of our favorite places in town. I got a Philadelphia roll, and a side salad with the famous ginger dressing. I don't know what's in this stuff, but every Japanese restaurant has this ginger dressing that is so darn good. I am going to stalk the recipe on Pinterest.

We went home to lounge around the house for a bit and watch some trashy TV before dinner. My brother came by to go to dinner with us. I missed seeing him, and it's always a treat when he comes to dinner with us. We went to a delicious steakhouse for a good ol' fashioned steak dinner. They have a section of the menu that has smaller portions and less calories so I ordered a steak, sweet potato, and fresh veggies off of that. It hit the spot!

We concluded our fantastic day with those delicious cookie bars. Not gonna lie, I had two servings. I couldn't help myself, guys. It was just that good.

SO worth it :)
Overall, a good day full family and good (healthy) food. The best days usually are, right? :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MOMMY! I LOVE YOU!

How do you like to celebrate your birthdays?
